Caguas, Puerto Rico
Caguas, a Puerto Rico municipality and city was founded in the year 1775 and is located in the plush environment of Puerto Rico’s Central Mountain Range and south of Trujillo Alto and San Juan and east of Cayey and Aguas Buenas. This beautiful city of Caguas owns its name from the Taino cacique Caguax, a Christial convert and is popularly known as the Creole City or the Turabo valley.
This charming city is famous for its various festivals and celebrations that keep the city in colorful and happy mood throughout the year. Among some of the major events and festivals of the city includes Fiestas Patronales de Nuestra Sra. While Carraizo Lake is considered to be the the largest one in the whole of Puerto Rico, the Sotomayor del Toro Reserve is located on the Cerro La Santa’s steep slopes that make this place all the more exciting. This Reserve is among the most famous spots in this city and tourists across the glaobe visit it in order to see varied wildlife species. Another striking point about this Toro Reserve is that its streams are famous as they provide nourishment to the Turabo River’s headwaters.
The Carite Forest Reserve is also one of the popular tourist destinations. It is a forest that has highest points from which the tourists are enthralled to see the views of the Caribbean Sea and Ponce. The main activity carried out at this place is birding as this forest is a niche of around fifty species.
