CEIBA
Huddled in the northeastern terrain of Puerto Rico, Ceiba is a small town which derives its name from the famous Ceiba tree. The town is situated on the east coast of the island and shares its border with the Atlantic Ocean. This town was founded by Luis de la Cruz on April 7, 1838 and is famous as the home for famous Ceiba forest which is spread over a vast expanse till Fajardo. The forests here are famous for being the natural habitat for a number of exquisite birds and animals, such as turtles and manatees. The national flag of Ceiba draws inspiration from the municipal coat of arms in respect of its symbolism, design and colors.
While visiting this town, there are a lot of options to relax and enjoy. One can visit the famous Los Machos or Medio Mundo beach here and enjoy the waves and other beach activities. Another famous attraction of this place is the Roosevelt Roads Golf Club which is situated on the eastern side of the town. This golf club is situated on the interior side of the Roosevelt Roads Navy base and is ideal to capture a picturesque view of the El Yunque rain forest. Other highlights of the city include the Roosevelt Roads Naval Station which is 35 miles away from the international airport of the city and is the main naval base of this seaside town.
This city relies on the production of sugarcane as one of its main source of economic and financial support. In fact, the history of Ceiba has several landmark sites to boast of which stand as a proof of the huge impact of sugarcane plantations here, such as the Hacienda Santa Maria which is more than 150 years old.

The city has its own international airport i.e. Luis Munoz Marin International Airport which is located at an hour’s distance from the main city.
